Russian River Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes

All grapes for D'Agostini Pinot Noir come from Russian River, Sonoma County, California. The soil is very fertile and each year the crop must be thinned a good deal. 2001 D'Agostini Pinot Noir was harvested at 23.2 Brix and 0.75 total acid.

The wine was fermented dry on the skins in stainless steel. The juice was circulated over the skin twice a day. Upon completions, the wine was racked into French oak barrels, where they spent approximately thirteen months clarifying and undergoing malolactic fermentation.

I would describe the style as delicate, a wine with much finesse. The considerable wood and bottle aging of this wine has brought out the obvious Pinot Noir character and made the wine ultimately drinkable.

This wine won the SILVER medal in the San Francisco International Wine competition.
